Description
This is a 1900 to present date style hollow cast iron "Jocko" lawn jockey. He does not have his stand. He was retrieved from a local North Alabama yard. He was set in the ground not on a stand. The statue is named after Jocko Graves who was George Washington's young groomsman. Jocko stayed on the shore with Washington's horse when he crossed the Delware. Jocko can be seen in the background of that famous painting. Our Jocko has been repainted. The colors are the reverse of what they were originally. The 1900's Jocko had blue pants, red vest, blue tie and red & white cap. Ours has a blue vest and tie, red pants and blue & white cap. There is no lantern or ring for haltering a horse in his outstretched hand. The cast iron is in good condition with no damage. There is surface rust on the inside bottom as would be expected of a older cast iron piece.
